Biden ignores inquiry on increasing Hawaii death toll: ‘No response’

President Biden Remains Silent on Hawaii Wildfires

President Joe Biden reportedly didn’t have much to tell the press this ‍weekend regarding the rising death toll in Hawaii ‌following devastating wildfires ⁣in Maui.

“No comment,” Biden told reporters on Sunday after he was asked about the disaster, according to Bloomberg correspondent⁤ Justin Sink. ‌The question came after‍ the president spent hours lounging by the water in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

At least 96 people are dead in Maui, a toll that is expected to ‌rise as authorities search the ⁤island for human remains and ‍work to account for the hundreds of missing persons.

Biden said earlier on Sunday that “we’re looking at it” ‍when asked ⁢about the historic devastation. ⁢The president approved a major disaster declaration last week ‍that allows federal funds and agencies to aid in the ⁣response.

President’s Hostility Towards ‌the Press

The president is known⁤ for being hostile toward the ⁢press.‌ Biden has repeatedly‌ lashed out at reporters‌ who⁣ ask about his‌ son Hunter Biden and ‌the‌ family’s overseas business dealings. He has also given ‌ far fewer interviews to the media⁤ than his predecessors.

Biden has spent ‍around 40 percent of his presidency on vacation, mainly at his homes ⁢in Delaware.
