FBI shares updated picture of LA boy abducted in Mexico two decades ago.
An Age-Enhanced Photo Released in Hopes of Finding Kidnapped Boy
An age-enhanced photo of a boy who was kidnapped 20 years ago has been released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on August 11. The authorities are hoping that this new image will help in locating him.
The boy, Joshua Keshaba Sierra Garcia, was only 1 year old when he was taken by relatives to Mexico City, Mexico, for his baptism. Tragically, on August 12, 2003, his 14-year-old babysitter was murdered, and Joshua was kidnapped.
Joshua, who had black hair and brown eyes, was described as being 3 feet tall and weighing between 25 and 28 pounds. He had pierced ears and was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue shorts, and sandals.

The FBI revealed that Joshua’s family received several ransom calls after his disappearance. While one of the kidnappers was arrested by Mexican law enforcement during a money drop, Joshua was never found. The kidnapper is currently serving a prison sentence in Mexico.
The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for any information that could lead to the recovery of Joshua, whether he is alive or deceased.
“We have not given up hope that we can find him and determine what happened to him twenty years ago,” said Donald Alway, assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office. ”I’m hopeful that the reward offer, a new photograph, as well as additional investigative techniques, will bring someone forward with that piece of information that will lead to Joshua and help us solve this case for his family.”
The FBI and Mexican law enforcement agencies are collaborating on the investigation to find Joshua.
Anyone with information concerning the case is urged to contact the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office at (310) 477-6565. Anonymous tips can also be submitted on its website.
