“We certainly want to make sure that we get to the bottom of what happened here and understand what happened,” Jean-Pierre stated. “What we’re going to focus on right now is allowing the investigation to unfold. We need to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, our immediate priority is to ensure that the survivors in Hawaii have all the necessary resources to rebuild.”
President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden are scheduled to visit Hawaii on Monday to witness the impact of the wildfires firsthand. The White House is actively engaged in a “whole-of-government effort” and has allocated $2.3 million in family aid to support the recovery process.
“We are here to help,” Jean-Pierre reassured. “The federal government is fully committed to assisting the affected communities and providing them with everything they need to rebuild and recover.”

The death toll in Maui has tragically surpassed 100, making it the deadliest wildfire event in the past century. Due to the severity of the burns, only a small number of the deceased have been identified.
Fortunately, two out of the original four fires have been contained, and as of Tuesday, one of them has been completely extinguished.
