DeSantis strategy: Support Trump, target Ramaswamy, and display passion.

The Super PAC’s Strategy for Gov. Ron DeSantis in the RNC Debate

The‌ super PAC‍ supporting ⁣Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in his presidential ‍bid has an exciting plan‍ for⁣ the ⁣Republican National Committee’s first primary debate next week. Their strategy includes defending former⁤ President Donald‍ Trump “in absentia,” attacking fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and sharing an emotional anecdote about DeSantis’s wife and children.

Primary Goals for DeSantis in‌ the RNC Debate:

  1. Attack ⁣Joe Biden and⁢ the media 3-5 times.
  2. State DeSantis’s positive vision 2-3 times.
  3. Hammer ‍Vivek Ramaswamy in a ‍response.
  4. Defend Donald ⁣Trump in absentia in response to‍ a Chris Christie attack.

DeSantis, referred to as ”GRD” in‍ the document, aims to make a strong impact during the debate. The memo, which was obtained and reported on⁤ by⁣ the New York Times, suggests that DeSantis should “take a sledge-hammer to Vivek Ramaswamy” and even gave him potential nicknames like‍ “Fake‌ Vivek” or “Vivek the Fake.”

Ramaswamy responded to the report ⁤on ‌X, stating,⁤ “Another boring, establishment attack from Super PAC-creation ‘Robot Ron’ who is literally taking ⁤lame,⁣ pre-programmed attack lines⁣ against me for ⁢next week’s debate. ‘Hammer Ramaswamy.'”

Ramaswamy’s deputy communications director, Stefan Mychajliw, also chimed in, expressing his support for his boss’s nickname for DeSantis. He compared DeSantis to “Jeb Junior,” referencing former ⁤Florida ⁢Gov. Jeb Bush’s unsuccessful 2016 presidential bid.

One ‌of the key⁢ instructions in the memo is for DeSantis‍ to “invoke a personal anecdote story about family,⁣ kids, Casey, showing emotion.” The campaign ⁣has been‌ highlighting DeSantis’s young family on the trail, emphasizing the impact of fatherhood ‍on his policy prescriptions, particularly⁣ in education. This approach positions ⁢DeSantis ⁢as the “parent’s⁣ candidate.”

As candidates gear⁣ up for the debate, the‌ leaked memo‍ has ⁣caused a stir. Trump’s participation remains uncertain, but DeSantis expects to be the primary target for other candidates, ⁤regardless of Trump’s presence. Strategists have predicted this, suggesting that most‌ candidates ⁤are ⁢afraid to attack Trump.

Campaign spokesman Andrew Romeo stated, “Every candidate on and off ‍the debate ⁢stage will have their knives out for Ron DeSantis because they know this is a two-man race. If DeSantis wasn’t the best candidate to beat Joe Biden, Donald Trump wouldn’t have spent over $20 million attacking‍ him. See you in Milwaukee.”

Never⁢ Back ⁣Down, the super PAC, shared a video on social media ⁣accusing ⁣Trump of‍ being “too weak⁢ to debate,” referencing ‌his indecision on ⁤the subject. However, Trump’s campaign has ‍maintained that his attendance at the event is unlikely.
