Tragedy Strikes: Texas Dad Discovers ‍Daughter’s Lifeless Body

In a heart-wrenching turn ‌of events, a Texas father returned ‌home on August 12 to a devastating discovery – his 11-year-old daughter, Maria, lifeless and gone.

Carmelo Gonzalez, 32, had left for work that morning when he received a ⁣distressing text from Maria. She informed him that a stranger was‍ knocking on their door, as reported by Fox 26.

“I told her, ‘Don’t‌ open the door⁤ because I am arriving at work,’ and she responded, ‘I‌ am in my bed,’” Gonzalez shared, describing his daughter as a “good, quiet ⁢girl” who‌ had just celebrated her 11th birthday.

Worried and unable to reach Maria, Gonzalez reached out to his relatives who lived in the same apartment building, urging them to check on his ⁣daughter. Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger revealed during a press conference that Gonzalez had ‍grown concerned after not hearing from Maria, according to the New York Post.

“I called and called and called,” Gonzalez⁣ told KHOU.

Upon arriving at the ‍apartment, Maria’s aunt and uncle discovered the door unlocked. However, a quick ‍search of the premises yielded no sign of Maria, as Bruegger explained.

It wasn’t ⁤until 3 p.m., five hours ⁢after Maria’s distressing text, that Gonzalez returned home. To his horror, he found his daughter’s lifeless ⁢body concealed⁤ inside a laundry basket, pushed under his bed.

“They left her under the bed in a plastic bag. They left my poor daughter,” Gonzalez tearfully shared with Fox 26.

Unsettling Details Emerge: Sexual Assault and Blunt Force Trauma

During the press ⁣conference, Chief Bruegger revealed the horrifying details surrounding Maria’s ⁣death. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled, ⁣with evidence‍ of blunt force trauma to her head, confirmed by a medical examiner.

As of now, law enforcement has no suspects for this “violent, violent crime.” Some individuals who voluntarily provided ‍their DNA have already been cleared, ‍including Maria’s father, whose alibi checked out.

The absence of forced entry suggests that the perpetrator may have been someone familiar with Maria’s ⁣routine and knew she would⁣ be home alone at ‌the time of the incident.

“It seems awfully suspicious that Dad leaves for work⁢ and within 30 minutes you’ve got somebody knocking at the door,” Bruegger remarked.

Although the apartment complex had security cameras, it remains uncertain if they were operational during the incident due to storms.

“Somebody had to have seen something, ⁢and that’s what we’re asking for,” Bruegger appealed. “Whoever witnessed anything around⁢ 10 a.m. at that apartment, we urge them to come forward with any information they might have.”

Maria’s mother is believed to be in⁣ Guatemala, and their legal status is currently unknown. However, Bruegger emphasized that their legal status is of little concern at this point, as the focus remains on finding justice⁣ for Maria.
