An illegal alien is now facing a capital murder charge in connection with the tragic death of an 11-year-old girl, following a nationwide manhunt that ended with his arrest.
Juan Carlos Garcia-Rodriguez, 18, was taken into custody on Saturday, according to KRIV-TV in Houston.
Police have revealed that Garcia-Rodriguez made a full confession regarding the murder and sexual assault of Maria Gonzalez, as reported by KTRK-TV in Houston.
He has been charged with capital murder, according to KRIV.
The lifeless body of Gonzalez was tragically discovered on August 12th, hidden under her own bed in her family’s apartment in Pasadena, Texas.
Garcia-Rodriguez, who resided in a nearby apartment, fled the town just two days after the girl’s lifeless body was found, according to a former roommate interviewed by KTRK.

The suspect was apprehended in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Authorities had feared that Garcia-Rodriguez, a Guatemalan national, had managed to flee the country through the southern border before his arrest, as reported by NewsNation on Friday.
He is currently awaiting extradition to Harris County, Texas, according to authorities.
Garcia-Rodriguez had only entered the country in January, as reported by KTRK.
After surrendering to immigration authorities in El Paso, Texas, the illegal alien was placed with sponsors in Louisiana.
During President Joe Biden’s administration, levels of illegal immigration at the porous southern border have reached all-time records, according to The Hill.
Maria Gonzalez was sexually assaulted and strangled Saturday at her Pasadena home. She was home alone when she messaged her dad and told him someone was knocking at the door.

Carmelo Gonzalez, Maria’s father, released a statement expressing gratitude towards the authorities for their efforts leading to the arrest.
“We want to say thank you to the Pasadena Police Department and to Louisiana police and any officials that participated in bringing this cold-blooded murderer into custody,” the statement said.
“I ask for those who are in charge to give us justice. May he be burdened with the full weight of the law, for what he has done to my daughter.”
The Gonzalez family has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses.
As of Sunday morning, the fundraiser has already raised $55,125.
