During an interview ⁢on ABC News’s This Week, former Vice President Mike Pence expressed his belief that‍ former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows would have been aware ‌of former ⁢President ‌Donald Trump’s order to declassify documents before leaving the White House. Pence’s comments came in​ response ⁤to Meadows reportedly telling investigators in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office that he ​did not⁤ remember a “standing order” from Trump regarding document declassification.

Pence’s Expectations

When asked about Meadows’ knowledge of the⁣ declassification order, Pence stated, “I would expect so.” However, he also ⁢expressed concern about⁢ potential leaks from⁢ the justice ‌department, saying, “But again, I sure hope we’re not getting ⁢back into the lane ​of leaks from the justice department about these cases.”

Regarding his potential​ 2024 presidential‌ rival, ‍Pence asserted ⁣that former President Trump deserves a presumption of⁤ innocence and his day in court.⁢ He declined‌ to comment on the latest leaks or reports emerging from the legal process.
