Teacher unions influenced educators to incorporate gender ideology politics into classrooms, says report.
The Largest Teachers’ Unions Allegedly Pushing Gender Ideology on Students
A new report has claimed that the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the largest teachers’ unions in the U.S., are actively promoting radical gender ideology in classrooms. The report by the Defense of Freedom Institute reveals that these unions, representing around 4.7 million educators, are working to change American society by advancing their agenda in schools.
The report highlights that the unions are targeting students by training teachers to inject gender identity politics into their classrooms. This training was conducted at the Together Educating America’s Children (TEACH) Conference in Washington, D.C., where AFT educators were coached on implementing these changes. Sessions titled “Affirming LGBTQIA+ Identities in and out of the Classroom” and “The TGNCNB Inclusive School and Classroom” provided actionable skills and strategies for transforming school culture.
The NEA and AFT have also released resources and guidelines to support their agenda. The NEA’s “LGBTQ Toolkit” encourages members to follow their “Pronoun Guide” and create supportive spaces for LGBTQI+ youth. They condemn discriminatory discipline and express support for displays of inclusivity, such as Black Lives Matter posters and pride flags, in classrooms.
Furthermore, the report mentions that the unions favor age-appropriate and inclusive bathroom and locker room policies. They also criticize Republican-led bans on pornographic content in schools, referring to them as “book bans.”
It is important to note that the NEA and AFT’s actions have faced criticism. The report highlights instances where they have clashed with laws that restrict discussions on gender identity and sexual orientation in younger grade levels. The unions have encouraged educators to challenge school policies that prohibit inclusive displays and have cited a successful lawsuit against a school board that banned political symbols in classrooms.
Overall, this report sheds light on the alleged efforts of the largest teachers’ unions in the U.S. to promote gender ideology in classrooms. It raises important questions about the role of educators in shaping students’ beliefs and the influence of unions on educational policies.
