At least seven prosecutors who worked in⁢ the Delaware U.S. attorney’s office during the Hunter Biden investigation‌ have been found to be Democratic donors, according to a Washington Examiner analysis. One of them even had a personal relationship ‌with the Biden family, referring to Hunter Biden as a “good friend.”

Hunter ⁤Biden’s ‍legal team has accused Weiss of bias in the opposite ⁣direction,⁢ claiming that he discarded an earlier offer of⁤ immunity to appease Republican critics.

While the two prosecutors who signed the now-withdrawn plea deal offered​ to Hunter Biden ⁢in⁤ June do not appear to be Democratic donors, the political affiliation of other‌ prosecutors during the alleged misconduct by Weiss adds to the scrutiny faced by the special counsel.

Close Personal Connections to⁢ the Biden‍ Family

One‌ prosecutor, Daniel Logan, ‍had a close relationship with the⁣ Biden family before joining the‌ Delaware U.S. attorney’s office. In 2010, he sent an email to Hunter Biden expressing gratitude for ⁢a donation made in‍ the name of Logan’s ailing son, referring to Hunter Biden‍ as a “good friend.” Logan previously worked for Beau Biden, Delaware’s former attorney general.

Another prosecutor, Alexander ⁢Mackler, who was a personal friend of Hunter Biden’s, also had a close personal connection to the Biden family while the investigation was ongoing. Mackler now works in the Delaware attorney general’s office.

Political Affiliations of Prosecutors

Most of the prosecutors​ in Weiss’s office did not‍ appear to donate to any political candidates. However, one prosecutor who was present at the opening of the investigation ‍donated to President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign. Another prosecutor, Michael McTaggart, was ‌a ⁣long-time donor to Delaware Democrats and worked under Beau Biden at the Delaware Department of Justice.

It is worth noting that Weiss’s office shuffled the ⁣prosecutors on the Hunter Biden case amidst the scrutiny it faced.‌ Lesley Wolf, who played a prominent role in the investigation, ⁣was accused by IRS whistleblowers of obstructing investigative steps. She was involved in negotiations over a plea deal that ⁤granted broad immunity to Hunter Biden but was later pulled back following the whistleblowers’ testimony.

The prosecutors who signed the ‍plea deal, Leo Wise and Benjamin Wallace, are relatively new to the case overseen by Weiss since early ⁣2019. Wise was detailed from an outside office, while Wallace has been working in Weiss’s office since March, according to ‍his LinkedIn page.
