VIDEO: Biden’s Maui Visit Turns Chaotic with Profanity-Laden Outburst
‘Thanks for nothing!’ protesters shout at president who waited 13 days to visit fire-ravaged island
Residents of Maui gave President Joe Biden a less-than-warm welcome as he finally arrived on the fire-ravaged island after a 13-day delay. Their shouts of “Fuck you!” echoed through the air, expressing their frustration with the president’s slow response to the devastating wildfires that have claimed numerous lives.
As Biden’s motorcade made its way through Maui on Monday, protesters made their voices heard, criticizing the president for his delayed visit. “Wow, he’s finally here!” one protester sarcastically remarked. “Yeah, thanks for nothing!”
Joined by a chorus of voices, multiple protesters repeatedly shouted, “Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you!”
Other residents of Maui displayed signs, one of which read, “Traitor Joe Must Go!” The signs served as a visual representation of their disappointment in Biden’s delayed arrival.
Biden’s visit to Maui came almost two weeks after the wildfires began. The fires, believed to have been caused by a downed power line, have resulted in the loss of at least 115 lives, with another 850 individuals still missing. Upon his arrival, the president, acknowledging the gravity of the situation, humorously commented, “That’s some hot ground, man.”
While Biden initially acknowledged the devastation after Hawaii officials declared a state of emergency on August 8, he remained silent about the fires for several days. When a reporter attempted to question him about the rising death toll in Maui on August 13, Biden dismissively replied, “No comment.”
This lack of response has complicated the efforts of the White House and mainstream media to portray empathy as Biden’s defining characteristic. The president has already tarnished this image by failing to visit East Palestine, Ohio, a Republican-voting town that was devastated by a chemical spill in February.
One Maui resident, Ella Sable Tacderan, appeared on CNN to express her disappointment with Biden’s muted reaction. “Where’s the president?” she asked. “Aren’t we Americans too? We’re part of the United States, so why are we being ignored?”
During discussions about the tragedy, Biden was frequently seen nodding off. However, he did attempt to empathize with the survivors of the wildfires by mentioning that he had experienced a small fire in his kitchen. The fire department that responded to the incident described it as “insignificant” and “contained in 20 minutes,” according to the Washington Free Beacon.
Biden, on the other hand, had a different perspective. ”I almost lost my wife, my ’67 Corvette, and my cat,” he chuckled.
