Trump to surrender on Thursday in Georgia, blaming a radical left district attorney for his arrest.
Former President Donald Trump to Turn Himself In on Racketeering Charges
On Monday evening, former President Donald Trump made a stunning announcement via Truth Social. He revealed that he will voluntarily surrender to authorities in Georgia on Thursday, August 24. This decision comes after being indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on racketeering charges. These charges are related to his alleged attempts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.
“Can you believe it? I’ll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis, who is overseeing one of the greatest Murder and Violent Crime DISASTERS in American History.”
Earlier on Monday, Trump’s legal team met with the Fulton County District Attorney’s office. As a result, Trump agreed to a $200,000 bond and other release conditions.
Trump consented to the bond order, which includes 13 counts of charges such as criminal conspiracy and solicitation, making false statements, and violation of Georgia’s version of the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
In a mocking tone, the GOP 2024 frontrunner expressed his disbelief at the high bond set by the judge.
“The failed District Attorney of Fulton County (Atlanta), Fani Willis, insisted on a $200,000 Bond from me. I assume, therefore, that she thought I was a ‘flight risk’ – I’d fly far away, maybe to Russia, Russia, Russia, share a gold domed suite with Vladimir, never to be seen or heard from again. Would I be able to take my very ‘understated’ airplane with the gold TRUMP affixed for all to see? Probably not, I’d be much better off flying commercial – I’m sure nobody would recognize me!”
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis recently launched a 41-count indictment against Trump and 18 co-conspirators. This indictment accuses them of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Notably, this marks the fourth indictment against the former president, who is eyeing a second term in 2024.
