Fulton County Sheriff: Trump to be treated like any other prisoner.

The Fulton County Sheriff has made it ⁢clear that‍ former U.S. President Donald Trump will not receive any special treatment during the booking process. Sheriff Patrick Labatt stated that if Trump is indicted,⁤ he will be treated like any other inmate, undergoing procedures⁤ such as fingerprinting and mugshots.

According to retired lieutenant Charles Rambo, once inside the facility, Trump and the other defendants will be subjected to a pat-down search and have their personal ‍belongings, including ties and shoe strings, confiscated. They will then be fingerprinted and have their booking⁢ photos taken.

President Trump and the other defendants will likely‌ have their mugshots taken. However, it remains uncertain whether they will go ⁣through all the typical procedures followed by regular prisoners at the ⁤facility.

Chris ⁤Timmons, a former Georgia prosecutor, predicts that‍ Trump won’t spend much time in the jail ‍due to the inconvenience it would⁣ cause for the sheriff’s department. He describes the “Rice Street”‍ jail as an unpleasant and intimidating ⁤place.

In July, ⁤the Department of Justice ⁣(DoJ) initiated a civil rights investigation into the conditions at the Fulton County jail.

An ‘Unsafe, Unsanitary’ Jail

The DoJ launched an investigation into the conditions at ‌the Fulton County Jail on July ‍13, 2023.

According to the department, an inmate died in the jail under deplorable conditions, covered in insects⁣ and filth. There are also credible allegations of structural unsafety, rampant violence resulting in injuries ⁤and homicides, and excessive use of force by⁢ officers.

Attorney General⁤ Merrick B. Garland emphasized the importance of protecting the civil rights of individuals in prisons and jails. U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan expressed grave concern over the allegations and stated that the investigation aims to ensure the safety and‍ constitutional rights of citizens, even while they are in custody.
