Club for Growth ad criticizes Jim Justice for his connections to the DC ‘swamp’.

The Club for Growth Slams Gov. Jim Justice ‍for Ties to McConnell and the ‌”Swamp”

The Club for Growth has released a powerful advertisement criticizing Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV) for his connections to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the infamous⁤ Washington “swamp.”

The conservative group, which has⁢ endorsed Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV) in the 2024 West Virginia Senate election, takes aim at the ‌popular ‌governor in a compelling video that portrays him as “the establishment’s hand-picked⁢ candidate for Senate.”

Exposing the “Swamp”

“This is the definition of the swamp,” Justice declares at the beginning of⁣ the video, setting the stage ⁤for the accusations that follow.

The narrator then accuses Justice of ‌being deeply entangled in the Washington “swamp,” stating, “Jim Justice, the establishment’s hand-picked candidate for Senate. Personally recruited by Mitch McConnell. Private texts, love letters, and swamp-stained campaign cash. Payback for the $100,000 Justice’s family gave to help McConnell? A down payment on Justice’s loyalty.”

The ad concludes with a powerful statement, asserting, “Who knows what deals ⁣were cut, but we do know Justice is McConnell’s man, not West Virginia’s.”

The advertisement, shared exclusively with the Hill, will be aired⁢ before and during the Republican presidential debate on Fox News in West Virginia. The Club for Growth has‍ invested $9,000 in this ad buy, ensuring its message reaches a⁤ wide audience.

Justice’s Front-Runner ⁤Status and Controversies

Despite being the front-runner in the Republican primary as a popular incumbent governor, Justice ‌has faced ⁤scrutiny over his family’s business and personal finances. He and Mooney are both vying to unseat Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) in the heavily ⁤Republican ‍state.

An ECU poll conducted in May reveals⁤ that Justice ⁢currently leads Mooney in the Republican primary with 53% support ‍compared to Mooney’s 12%. The same poll also shows Justice leading Manchin in a head-to-head matchup with 54% to ‍32%, while Mooney narrowly edges out Manchin with 41% to 40%.

Manchin has not confirmed whether he will seek another term in 2024 but has stated that ⁢he will make a decision by the end of the year. The West Virginia ‌Democrat has not ruled out a potential third-party run for president in 2024, confidently stating, ⁣”If I get in a race, I’m gonna win.”
