Cruz criticizes opponent’s event attendance: ‘Only six people came’

Sen. Ted Cruz Blasts Opponent’s Event Turnout

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) didn’t hold back ⁢in criticizing his opponent’s recent event in San Antonio, Texas. According to Cruz, only six people ⁤showed ⁤up for the ⁤gathering, contradicting Rep.‍ Colin Allred’s‌ (D-TX) claim that the event had significant attendance.

“Wow.‌ Six people showed up in⁢ San‌ Antonio,” ⁣Cruz posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Allred, a three-term⁢ congressman, is one of 11 candidates⁢ vying for the Democratic primary to represent Texas in the Senate. His visit to San Antonio was part of his “Lone‍ Star‌ Listening Tour,” ⁣aimed at connecting with constituents.

Since announcing his bid to challenge Cruz in the 2024 election, Allred has been leveraging his popularity gained ⁤from his recent⁢ election victory to gain support ‍for his Senate campaign. ‌Critics of Cruz ⁣believe his seat is vulnerable due to his‌ association with former President Donald Trump, who is currently facing multiple indictments as he seeks a return to the White House.

“I’m running for the U.S. Senate because Texans‍ deserve a senator whose team is Texas. Ted Cruz only cares about himself,” Allred ⁤stated when he announced his⁤ candidacy.

Cruz, ⁤who has been ‌serving in ⁤the Senate since 2013, defeated then-Rep.⁢ Beto O’Rourke in the 2018 election. He also ran a competitive race for the‌ Republican presidential nomination in 2016, ultimately losing to Trump.
