Police bodycam footage reveals officers rescuing a woman chained to the floor in a Kentucky home.
Police Rescue Woman Chained to Floor in Louisville Home
Police bodycam footage captures the dramatic rescue of a Kentucky woman who was found chained to the floor of an upstairs bedroom in a Louisville home.
Moises May, 36, was apprehended two days after the rescue and now faces multiple charges including kidnapping, assault, and terroristic threatening, according to WAVE.
On August 16, the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a distress call from a residence where a woman was heard screaming for help from a second-floor window.
Concerned neighbors had alerted the police after witnessing the woman break the window and desperately call for assistance, as reported by the New York Post.
Upon arrival, the police encountered a barricaded first floor, with all doors and windows sealed shut. In recently released bodycam footage, officers can be seen attempting to force their way into the house, but their efforts prove futile.
Despite the obstacles, the police spotted the distressed woman on the second floor, pleading for help. With the assistance of a ladder borrowed from a neighbor, they managed to reach her.
Inside the room, they discovered a distraught woman, crying and in a state of panic, with a chain tightly locked around her neck and bolted to the floor.
According to the LMPD, “The woman had a chain around her neck, which was secured by a MasterLock, and that chain was bolted to the floor with screws.” She explained to the officer that the man who held her captive had the key to the lock on his keychain. Using a hatchet, the officer skillfully breaks the metal connecting the chain to the floor.
Once outside, the woman receives immediate medical attention from the police and firefighters. They swiftly remove the chain from her neck using bolt cutters.
Abuser Arrested, Victim Shares Child with Perpetrator
Two days later, the police apprehended May. The incident unfolded after an argument between May and the victim turned violent, resulting in him forcefully restraining her on the bathroom floor and brutally cutting off most of her hair with a machete. The arrest report obtained by WAVE reveals that May and the victim have a child together.
Following the altercation, the woman managed to escape the house. However, upon her return to retrieve her belongings, May locked all the doors with a deadbolt, effectively trapping her inside. Allegedly, May coerced the woman into removing her clothes and menacingly warned her, “You’re gonna get it tonight. I told you the next time you leave and don’t come home, I’d kill you.”
He then proceeded to chain her to the floor upstairs. Eventually, May left the premises, taking her cell phone with him. However, the woman’s determination led her to break the window and attract the attention of concerned neighbors, who promptly contacted the police.
May has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
