New polling reveals that the people of New‌ York are deeply worried about the ‌recent influx of migrants and are calling for measures to slow down their entry ⁢into ‍the state.

According to a survey conducted by Siena College and published on Tuesday, a staggering 82% of respondents consider the ‌recent influxes to be a ⁣”serious” problem, with 54%⁤ describing it as “very serious.”

Furthermore, 46% of those polled believe that ‍migrants relocating to New York in⁣ recent decades have been ‌more of a “burden” than a ‌”benefit.” Additionally, 58% of respondents ⁣feel that the state has “already done enough” and should now focus on slowing down the flow of migrants.

The poll also reflects the dissatisfaction of New Yorkers with the ‌handling of the situation by key political‍ figures. 47% disapprove of New York City mayor Eric Adams’s response, 51% disapprove of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s actions, and a significant 56%‌ disapprove of President Joe Biden’s handling of the crisis.

This survey comes at a critical time, as Democrats are expressing concerns about the potential consequences of the worsening migrant crisis in New York. According to the New York Times, party members fear that this issue‍ could have disastrous implications for their political future.

Amidst⁤ the crisis, Democrats have been ‍pointing fingers at each other. Gov. Hochul recently called out Mayor Adams, accusing the city government of inaction.

Hochul’s lawyers have criticized the mayor, claiming that the city failed to accept the ⁤state’s offers for assistance and neglected to coordinate with surrounding communities to provide housing, resulting in a severe shortage of housing ‍for undocumented immigrants.

In response, Mayor Adams pushed back against the governor’s criticisms. He argued ⁢that some of her suggestions, such as housing migrants in flood-prone areas, are not feasible.

However, Adams primarily places blame on‍ the White House. Democratic politicians in New York City ‍ rallied outside ⁤City Hall‍ this month, demanding more assistance from the‌ federal ⁣government.

Adams has criticized the Biden administration for not expediting work permits for migrants, deeming it “unacceptable.”
