2 Arrested for Teen’s Fatal Shooting at Boyle Heights Park
Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with Shooting Death of 16-Year-Old Boy
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—In a tragic incident at the Boyle Heights recreation center, a 16-year-old boy named Alfonso Ramos was fatally shot while volunteering. However, there is some progress in the case as two suspects have been arrested, as announced by the Los Angeles Police Department on Aug. 23.
The names of the suspects have not been released yet, but the police have scheduled a news conference on Aug. 24 to provide more details about the arrests and the crime itself.
A Heartbreaking Loss
Alfonso Ramos lost his life on Aug. 12, shortly after 5 p.m., at the Evergreen Park Recreation Center on East Second Street. According to the police, he was approached by two individuals inside the center, leading to a brief altercation. Tragically, one of the suspects pulled out a weapon and shot the young volunteer.
Both suspects managed to escape on foot, leaving behind a devastated community and a grieving family.
A Life Cut Short
Alfonso Ramos was a remarkable young man who had a positive impact on many lives. His mother, Crystal Arellano, created a GoFundMe account to honor his memory and raise funds for his funeral expenses. In her heartfelt message, she described Alfonso as a loving son, brother, nephew, and cousin, highlighting his sense of humor, determination, and love for his family.
With four siblings left behind, Alfonso’s tragic loss has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
