LA Burglary Ring Leader Gets 45+ Years in Jail
Leader of Los Angeles Burglary Ring Sentenced to Over 45 Years in Prison
In a shocking case that has left residents of Los Angeles and San Diego County on edge, Gregory Shively, the mastermind behind a notorious residential burglary ring, has been handed a sentence of more than 45 years in state prison.
Shively, along with three other gang members from the LA area, embarked on a crime spree that saw them burglarize a staggering 38 homes between January 2017 and February 2018, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
Described as the “organizer and ringleader” of the crew, Shively was recently convicted on 57 counts by a jury.

Prosecutors revealed that Shively and his accomplices specifically targeted San Diego County for their burglaries, later transporting the stolen property back to Los Angeles County.
During their crime spree, the gang made off with over $500,000 worth of cash and jewelry. Shockingly, 10 of the burglaries occurred while the victims were still inside their homes, with one victim even being threatened at gunpoint when he interrupted a break-in. Additionally, the defendants callously pepper-sprayed several dogs throughout their criminal activities.
“This residential burglary syndicate stole the peace and safety that people are entitled to in their own homes,” stated San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan.
On August 22, Shively was sentenced to an astonishing 45 years and eight months in prison. His co-defendants had previously been convicted or pleaded guilty, receiving prison terms ranging from 11 to 16 years.
