A Retired Police Officer Turned Shooter
Startling details emerged about the shooter, who was revealed to be a retired police officer from the Ventura Police Department. However, authorities have not yet disclosed his name or the motive behind this senseless act of violence.
The shooting spree commenced around 7 p.m., shattering the peaceful atmosphere of Cook’s Corner. This iconic bar is a favorite haunt for motorcycle riders and enthusiasts, offering live music, open mic nights, and refreshing drinks.
Swift Response and Heroic Actions
Within a mere two minutes of the first emergency call, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene. They bravely engaged in a firefight with the shooter, ultimately bringing him down.
Tragically, the gunman claimed the lives of three innocent individuals, while six others were rushed to the hospital, five of them suffering from gunshot wounds. Two victims remain in critical condition, receiving urgent medical care at Providence Mission Hospital.
A Witness’s Terrifying Account
A witness, speaking to local outlet KABC, recounted the harrowing moments when the shooter was confronted by the deputies outside his truck. “He came in, he went back to reload and bring more guns, and the cops found him,” she said. “I’m glad I didn’t die. He shot four or six at me and missed.”
