First GOP debate’s speaking time totals don’t match polling averages.

Speaking Time Totals for First GOP Debate Are ⁤In⁤ – They Don’t Line Up with⁣ the ⁤Polling Averages

The candidate speaking times are in for ‌Wednesday’s first 2024 Republican primary⁣ debate,‌ and‍ there is a discrepancy as it relates to polling and how long each of ‌the ‍presidential hopefuls spoke.

Eight candidates attended the event in Milwaukee hosted by Fox News.

Former President Donald Trump decided to skip ‍the⁤ debate, but there were still plenty of fireworks among those who did attend.

Perhaps that could explain why some candidates with speaking time totals don’t match polling averages.”>low polling⁣ numbers stole the show ⁣in some ways.

Speaking Time Breakdown:

  • Mike⁤ Pence: 12 minutes and 26 seconds
  • Vivek Ramaswamy: 11 minutes and 38 seconds
  • Chris ‍Christie: 11 minutes and 37 seconds
  • Ron DeSantis: 10 minutes and 1 second
  • Nikki Haley: 5 minutes and 12 seconds
  • Tim Scott: 4 minutes and⁣ 59 seconds
  • Doug Burgum: 4‍ minutes and ⁣45 seconds
  • Asa Hutchinson: 4 minutes and 30 ⁤seconds

According to ‌the current Real Clear Politics average, ‍the polling standings are as follows:

  1. Donald Trump: 25.7%
  2. Ron DeSantis: 14.3%
  3. Vivek Ramaswamy: 7.2%
  4. Mike Pence: 4%
  5. Nikki Haley: 3.2%
  6. Tim Scott: 3.1%
  7. Chris Christie: 3%
  8. Doug Burgum: Less than 1%
  9. Asa Hutchinson: Less than 1%

It’s clear that the speaking times ‌and polling‍ averages don’t align perfectly. Candidates like Mike Pence⁢ and Vivek Ramaswamy, who have lower polling numbers, managed to steal the show ‍with their speaking time.

Former President Donald Trump, who ‌skipped the debate, sat down for ⁢a 46-minute interview with Tucker Carlson ‌that ⁣was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, as the debate ‍kicked off.

As of Thursday morning, ⁢that video had more than 190 million impressions on the ⁣platform ⁢and more than ⁣50,000 comments.

Ratings for the debate were‌ not yet in.
