Carlos Santana affirms: ‘We are all creations of God’ and ‘Gender is binary: women are women and men are men’.
Carlos Santana Sparks Controversy with Bold Statement
During a recent concert, legendary musician Carlos Santana made a thought-provoking declaration that ignited both praise and criticism from music fans. Santana boldly stated, “a woman is a woman and a man is a man,” sending shockwaves through the crowd.
“When God made you and me — before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are,” Santana passionately expressed to the attendees. “Later on, when you grow out of it, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it ain’t right.”
The crowd erupted in cheers as Santana continued, “Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That’s it. Whatever you wanna do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m OK with that.”
These remarks, made during a concert in Atlantic City in July, were captured on video and recently went viral on X, the popular social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Within just two hours, the video garnered over 800,000 views, sparking a heated debate among users.
Divided Reactions
While some criticized Santana’s comments as anti-transgender, others praised him for not succumbing to what they perceive as “woke culture.” One social media user expressed disappointment, stating, “Such a legendary artist having to spread this hate for what.” Another post read, “He’s over… well, he actually never started.”
However, there were those who supported Santana’s viewpoint. One user defended him, saying, “He isn’t wrong. He is preaching truth and nothing less than that, you know what you are naturally. So spare me all this identity theft, you all are doing.”
In the video, Santana also expressed solidarity with comedian Dave Chappelle, who has faced similar criticism in the past for his anti-transgender comments. Santana gestured with one hand in line with the other, symbolizing their shared stance.
Since the concert, Santana clarified his intentions in an interview with Billboard, stating, “I desire to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs, whether they are LGBTQ or not. This is the planet of free will, and we have all been given this gift.”
Controversy Continues
Carlos Santana is not the only musician to express skepticism towards transgender issues. Alice Cooper recently shared his thoughts, stating, “I’m understanding that there are cases of transgender, but I’m afraid that it’s also a fad.” Cooper expressed concern for young children, saying, “I find it wrong when you’ve got a six-year-old kid who has no idea. He just wants to play, and you’re confusing him telling him, ‘Yeah, you’re a boy, but you could be a girl if you want to be.'”
The debate surrounding gender identity and acceptance continues to be a contentious topic, with artists like Santana and Cooper adding their voices to the conversation.
