President Biden Reacts to Republican Primary Debate and Trump’s Interview with Tucker Carlson
President Joe Biden, currently vacationing near Lake Tahoe in Nevada, shared his thoughts on the recent Republican primary debate and former President Donald Trump’s interview with Tucker Carlson. Speaking to reporters outside a pilates studio on the California side of the lake, President Biden expressed his lack of enthusiasm for both events.
“I don’t remember them speaking to any of the issues,” he said, referring to the Republican primary debate. When asked about Trump’s interview with Carlson, the president stated that he didn’t have any interest or inclination to watch it.
President Biden emphasized the importance of addressing key issues such as economic growth, job maintenance, and education. He questioned the Republican candidates’ plans in these areas.
Despite President Trump’s absence, the first Republican presidential debate drew a significant audience of approximately 13 million viewers, with 2.8 million viewers aged 25 to 54. On the other hand, Trump’s interview with Tucker Carlson reached an estimated 256 million individuals on X (formerly Twitter), although it is challenging to determine how many watched the entire interview due to the platform’s view counting criteria.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump revealed who he believed won the first Republican presidential debate. He shared a clip of Vivek Ramaswamy’s comments during the debate, praising Trump as the best president of the 21st century. Ramaswamy also criticized fellow candidate Chris Christie for his campaign based on vengeance and grievance against Trump.
President Biden was also asked about his reaction to President Trump’s mug shot, to which he jokingly replied, “Handsome guy. Wonderful guy.” The mug shot was taken when Trump surrendered at the Fulton County jail in response to a 13-count indictment related to the 2020 Georgia election.
