Get ready, California residents! The first payment for September is on its way, and it’s worth up to $1,691. In just six days, you’ll receive your CalFresh benefits, also known as SNAP benefits.
Payment Dates and Distribution
Wondering when exactly you’ll get your payment? It all depends on your case number. If your case number ends in 1, mark your calendar for August 1. For those with a case number ending in 2, your benefits will be available on August 2. The payment dates continue until August 10, when those with a case number ending in 0 will receive their payment.
How Much Will You Receive?
The amount you’ll receive depends on various factors, such as household size, income limits, and additional assets. On average, eligible individuals in California receive $196 per month. For a household of one person, the maximum monthly payment is $281. A household of four can receive up to $939, while a household of eight can receive a maximum of $1,691. And for each additional household member past eight, the program adds up to $211.
Income Limits
To be eligible for CalFresh benefits, most California households must have a monthly gross income at or below 130% of the federal poverty level. For example, a family of one must have a monthly income limit of $1,473. A household of three can have a limit of $2,495, and a household of six can have a limit of $4,029.
However, households with an elderly or disabled member have a higher eligibility limit of 200%. For a family of one, the monthly income limit is $2,266. A household of three can have a limit of $3,840, and a household of six can have a limit of $6,200.
