Teen killed, others injured in shooting at high school football game.
Teenager Fatally Shot at High School Football Game in Oklahoma
A tragic incident unfolded during a Friday night high school football game in Choctaw, Oklahoma, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy and injuries to two others.
The shooting occurred during the third quarter of the game between Choctaw High School and Del City High School, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to Choctaw Police Chief Kelly Marshall, the victim was not a student of either school. The names of the victims have not been released.
While no arrests have been made, authorities are actively searching for a person of interest in connection with the incident.
“It is believed an argument started between at least two males which led to the shooting,” Marshall said. “Two guns and eight rounds were recovered at the scene.”
One of the injured individuals, a 42-year-old man, is currently in stable condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest. A young female was treated and released for a wound to her thigh. Additionally, two other females suffered broken bones while trying to flee the chaotic scene.
As gunshots rang out in the stadium, panic ensued. Players, officials, and spectators scrambled for safety, seeking refuge on the field and in the stands.
Fortunately, there were seven Choctaw police officers present at the game, including five hired by the school district for security. Two off-duty Del City officers were also on-site to provide additional security for the Del City team. One of them discharged their weapon during the incident, according to Del City Police Chief Loyd Berger.
