Police say the Jacksonville shooter wrote three manifestos explaining his motives for the killings.
The Jacksonville Shooter: Motivation and Manifestos
In a tragic incident that unfolded at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida, the shooter claimed the lives of three innocent people before taking his own. However, what makes this case even more disturbing is the revelation of three manifestos left behind by the gunman.
Sheriff T.K. Waters, in an interview with WJXT-TV, disclosed that the manifestos provided a chilling insight into the shooter’s mindset. It was evident that racism fueled his actions, as the victims were all black individuals. ”This shooting was racially motivated, and he hated black people,” Sheriff Waters stated.

The shooter, whose identity remains undisclosed, was equipped with a tactical vest and armed with an AR-style rifle and handgun. Shockingly, both weapons were adorned with swastikas, further emphasizing the shooter’s hateful ideology.
Reports from WJXT revealed that the gunman had been spotted on the nearby campus of Edward Waters University prior to the shooting. This unsettling detail adds to the premeditated nature of the attack.
According to NBC News, the shooter had written manifestos expressing his “disgusting ideology of hate” to his parents, the media, and federal agencies. Sheriff Waters described the shooter as a “maniac” who specifically targeted black people.

It was revealed that the shooter had left his residence in Clay County and arrived in Jacksonville around 11:39 a.m. He sent a text to his father at 1:18 p.m., urging him to check his computer. Unfortunately, by the time the family contacted the police at 1:53 p.m., the shooting had already occurred.
Prior to this tragic event, the shooter had come to the attention of law enforcement. In 2016, he was involved in a domestic disturbance call that did not result in any arrests. The following year, he was subjected to the Baker Act, a measure taken when someone is deemed mentally unstable and a potential threat to themselves or others.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis condemned the shooter’s actions, emphasizing that they were racially motivated. He expressed his disdain for the shooter’s decision to take his own life, stating, “This guy killed himself rather than face the music and accept responsibility for his actions. And so he took the coward’s way out. But we condemn what happened in the strongest possible terms.”
