Youngkin stands firm on parental rights despite increasing left-wing criticism.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin Continues to Champion Parental Rights

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is⁣ steadfastly ⁤advancing his pro-parental rights agenda as he campaigns for state lawmakers ahead ‍of the upcoming elections ⁢in November.

Recently, Youngkin’s administration strongly criticized the Fairfax County ‌Public Schools’ ⁢decision to defy the state’s guidelines on radical gender ‍theory.

“The ⁣Fairfax County Public Schools policies diverge from VDOE ⁣model policy guidance and perpetuate a false notion that FCPS knows what’s better for a child than a child’s parent. The Fairfax County school⁢ board is expected to follow the law.”

During a recent event in Georgia, Youngkin also took aim at teachers unions, describing them ⁢as “a political organization” that his administration has to battle every day.

In a separate interview, Youngkin emphasized that government policies regarding parents should be based on common sense, stating that “parents are in charge of their children’s lives.”

“The kids don’t belong to⁣ the state. They belong to the parents and to families,” he asserted.‌ “And they have the ultimate say in decisions that that child is going‌ to make with a parent, not with a bureaucrat. And finally, at the end of the day, these are the exact same school‍ systems that fought us ‌on allowing⁣ parents to decide whether children wear a mask or whether sexually explicit materials could be removed from the curriculum, or that schools were going to stay shut for a long period of time, unnecessarily long, which resulted in massive learning loss.”

As Youngkin continues to champion parental rights, Democrats, including Senator Tim Kaine, have criticized him on the issue. Kaine mentioned Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida as a role model for Youngkin and raised concerns about⁣ efforts in Virginia to ban books and restrict access to certain materials.

The Daily Wire⁤ previously reported on the⁢ removal of a highly graphic book titled “Gender Queer: A Memoir” from library shelves in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Local media, such as the⁣ Richmond Times-Dispatch, have also attacked Youngkin’s efforts, questioning the academic benefits of removing sexually explicit ⁣books and downplaying concerns about gender identity and national security threats.
