CA Attorney General sues school district for gender parental notification policy.

California Attorney General Files Lawsuit Against⁣ School District Over Gender Notification Policy

California Attorney General Rob⁣ Bonta has taken legal action against a school district in a bid to halt its recently implemented ‍policy that requires schools to inform parents‍ about⁤ student‌ gender transitions. The lawsuit was ⁢filed ‌on⁤ Monday and aims to ‍protect the civil rights of LGBTQ+⁣ students.

Bonta launched an investigation into the Chino Valley Unified School District earlier this ⁣month after officials passed a policy in July that mandates teachers to notify parents within three days‍ if their child uses ‍different names and pronouns ⁤or expresses ⁣a desire to participate ⁣in activities that align with⁣ a gender different from their birth ‍certificate.

“Every student has the right to ⁢learn and thrive ‍in a school ⁤environment that promotes safety, privacy, and inclusivity – regardless of their ‍gender identity,” stated Bonta in a news release.

The attorney general argues⁣ that‍ the district’s “forced outing policy” violates the privacy rights of LGBTQ+ students and the ‌California Constitution. He emphasized the importance of creating accepting environments for non-conforming ‌students and vowed to fight for the civil rights of LGBTQ+ students across all school districts in California.

Chino Valley Unified spokesperson Andi Johnston‌ assured that the district has been cooperating with the ‍state’s investigation and has been transparent throughout the process. The⁢ district is currently reviewing the lawsuit with its legal counsel.

Parents’ Rights Activists Protest Gender-Affirming Bills

Earlier this month, a group of parents’ rights ⁣activists staged a demonstration outside the California‌ Capitol ‍in Sacramento,⁣ expressing their opposition to gender-affirming bills and ⁢advocating for parental notification regarding student gender policies.

Sonja ⁢Shaw, president of ⁢the Chino Valley Unified Board of Education, has been a prominent advocate for the⁣ district’s policy. She criticized ‍Attorney General Bonta’s⁤ actions as government overreach and an aggressive response to a measure aimed⁤ at fostering transparency between schools and parents.

Shaw⁢ emphasized that ⁤parents have a constitutional right in the upbringing of their children and vowed to protect their ‍children within the bounds⁢ of the law. She expressed concern over the assumption that parents are dangerous and called for standing up against attempts to marginalize parental⁤ involvement.

California’s Push for Radical Gender Theory Laws Sparks Backlash

California has emerged as⁢ a leading state in promoting‍ radical‌ gender theory-related laws, which have faced significant opposition from parents, school boards, and lawmakers. These laws seek to undermine parental authority, ⁣enforce state-controlled curriculum, and target local school boards.

Republican Assemblymember Bill Essayli ⁢introduced AB 1314, a ‌bill that‌ would require schools ⁣to notify parents if their ⁣child uses different pronouns ⁣or undergoes a change in identity. The bill was inspired ⁢by the Chino Valley Unified School District’s policy and has influenced ⁢other ⁣school districts in California to adopt similar measures.

Essayli remains determined to advance his legislative priorities, either through the California State Assembly or directly through school districts.‌ The bill has yet to pass in ⁣the State Assembly, but Essayli continues⁤ to⁣ push for its⁤ implementation.
