John Eastman defends 2020 election conduct before arraignment in interview.

Former Trump Attorney John Eastman Defends Conduct ⁤in 2020 Election

Former Trump attorney John Eastman recently spoke out in an interview ahead of his arraignment, defending his actions surrounding the 2020 presidential election. Eastman is one of 19 ‌defendants, including ⁤former President Donald Trump, who have been indicted on‌ charges of ⁣conspiring to overturn‍ the ‍election. In a televised ⁤interview with Fox News Host Laura Ingraham, Eastman boldly defended his conduct and challenged prosecutors⁤ to find any wrongdoing on his part.

Challenging the Election

“We did nothing wrong,” ‍Eastman asserted. “We were challenging the election based on serious allegations of fraud and numerous instances of officials violating state law. Even Vice President Pence⁢ acknowledged these ⁤concerns. If we can’t⁤ speak out about that, then our freedom of ‍speech and our right to‍ petition the government for⁢ redress of grievances are at stake.”

Eastman ‌firmly ⁣believes that his case is part of a larger battle against ⁣government overreach. “As an attorney, I firmly believe that the ‍people I‍ represented had a right to counsel,” he explained. “The bar complaints and attempts to stifle representation in election challenges, such as the Fulton‌ County complaint, are clear attempts to prevent people from exercising their rights. We cannot allow this to happen.”

Attorney-Client ‍Privilege and Allegations

Eastman also pushed back against the prosecution’s argument that ⁢attorney-client privilege could be disregarded due⁢ to the possibility of a crime being committed. “If disputed questions of constitutional law suddenly become criminal, it would set a dangerous precedent,” he⁢ argued. “We cannot throw ⁢the ‌entire legal profession and academy in jail‌ over this.”

Furthermore, Eastman vehemently denied the allegation that he and his co-defendants‍ knowingly spread false and baseless claims ⁣in‍ an attempt to overturn the election. ‍”They ⁣have access to all my emails and⁢ communications,” he ⁢stated.⁢ “My phone was seized⁣ over a year ago. I challenge them to find a ⁢single piece of evidence⁢ that⁢ supports their implausible theory.”

This interview ⁢aligns with Eastman’s previous ‌statements, where he adamantly defended himself⁣ against any wrongdoing.‌ “My legal team and I will vigorously contest‌ every count of the indictment,” he⁤ declared. “I am ⁣confident that, when the law is faithfully applied, ⁤all of my co-defendants and I will⁢ be fully vindicated.”
