Man Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Halloween Drive-By Shooting at Anaheim Strip Club
In a shocking incident on Halloween 2020, an Anaheim strip club became the scene of a terrifying drive-by shooting that left four people injured. Now, the perpetrator, 36-year-old Edgar Nava Ayala, has pleaded guilty and received a 12-year prison sentence.
Ayala, who hails from Anaheim, entered his guilty plea on August 28, admitting to four counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault with an assault weapon, and one count of shooting into an occupied building. He also acknowledged the sentencing enhancements for discharging a weapon and causing great bodily injury.
Having spent 1,131 days in jail awaiting trial, Ayala was given credit for his time served.

Another individual involved in the incident, Daniel Ocampo Nava of Anaheim, pleaded guilty on March 2 of the previous year to being an accessory. As part of his plea deal, four counts of assault with a machine gun and shooting at an inhabited dwelling were dismissed.
The shooting took place after the suspects, who had been evicted from the Sahara Theatre for refusing to wear masks, got into a red Toyota Camry. Armed with an AK-47-style rifle, they opened fire on the strip club at around 1:30 a.m. on October 31, 2020, according to the police.
Among the victims were both patrons and employees of the club, with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Co-defendant Juan Jose Acosta-Soto, who was driving the Camry during the shooting, was sentenced to 11 years in prison on December 8, 2021. Acosta-Soto pleaded guilty to four counts each of attempted murder and assault with a machine gun, as well as a count of discharging a gun at an inhabited dwelling. He also admitted to sentencing enhancements for furnishing a firearm.
The drive-by shooting at the Anaheim strip club serves as a chilling reminder of the dangers that can arise from such acts of violence.
