Keith Olbermann sparks online feud by criticizing Riley Gaines’ swimming skills.

Liberal Podcaster Slams Swimming Champion for Supporting Nebraskan Bill

Keith Olbermann, a prominent liberal podcaster, didn’t hold back in his criticism of ⁣swimming⁤ champion⁢ Riley Gaines for her endorsement of a controversial Nebraskan bill that defines sex as biological.

Gaines took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to⁢ express her support for Gov. Jim Pillen (R-NE) and his “Women’s Bill of Rights”⁣ executive order. The order specifically states ⁢that a “female” ⁣is an individual whose biological reproductive system is developed to produce ova.

A Clash of Opinions

Gaines praised the governor’s leadership, thanking him for implementing the Independent Women’s Voice’s Women’s‍ Bill of Rights and protecting nearly 1 million Nebraskan women. However, Olbermann didn’t hesitate to challenge her viewpoint.

“Can you just address the reality and‍ move past it?” Olbermann responded to one of⁤ Gaines’ posts. “You sucked at swimming. That’s why you lost.”

Gaines fired back, referencing Olbermann’s departure from ESPN in October 2020: “Ah, makes sense now why you got fired⁣ from ESPN.”

Not⁤ stopping there, Gaines also criticized state Sen. Megan Hunt for‍ her criticism of the executive order. She shared Hunt’s‌ response with a clown emoji‍ caption ⁢and urged voters in Hunt’s district⁢ to remember her stance in⁢ the next election.

“I’m term limited, dude — don’t worry,” Hunt ⁢replied, referring‌ to Nebraska’s law that restricts senators to two consecutive terms but allows for another run ⁣after four years.

Hunt, who initially won her seat as a Democratic candidate, ⁤recently announced that she left ‌the party and registered as nonpartisan.

Gaines’ Rise to Prominence

Gaines has gained significant ⁤popularity online ‍due to⁣ her social media campaign surrounding ⁢the debate about transgender women in sports. Her outspoken views on the‍ subject⁤ stem from her experience tying for ‍fifth place in the 200-meter NCAA championships with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas last year.
