DNC invested $1M+ in Virginia legislature races under Biden’s guidance.
President Biden Directs DNC to Invest $1 Million in Virginia Races
President Joe Biden has taken action to support the Democratic National Committee’s efforts in Virginia’s upcoming legislative races. With the majority of both chambers up for grabs, Biden has directed the DNC to invest over $1 million in the state.
According to the Washington Post, this move comes in response to Governor Glenn Youngkin’s historic investment in the races. In order to counter Youngkin’s efforts, the DNC will contribute an additional $1.2 million, bringing the total investment to $1.5 million.
High Stakes for Virginia
The election, scheduled for November 7th, will determine the fate of conservative priorities in Virginia. Currently, the House holds a slim majority, while Democrats maintain a narrow majority in the Senate. Youngkin has been actively working to expand the Republican majority in the House and secure a win in the Senate.
“The Democratic National Committee’s significant investment in Virginia underscores the critical importance of this November’s election,” stated Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) in a Washington Post interview. “If Republicans gain control of the General Assembly, they have pledged to restrict voting rights, pass an abortion ban, and roll back gun safety measures.”

Speculation Surrounding Youngkin’s Future
Adding to the intrigue, there is heavy speculation that Governor Youngkin may enter the 2024 Presidential Race as a consensus candidate for Republicans who are not aligned with former President Donald Trump. This speculation has grown as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has struggled to gain ground against Trump.
When questioned about his potential presidential aspirations, Youngkin has evaded direct answers, emphasizing his focus on winning the majority in the Senate and House.
