Tragic Collision in Palm‌ Springs Claims Three Lives

ESCONDIDO, Calif.—Authorities have identified⁣ three Escondido residents who were tragically killed in a devastating​ three-vehicle collision this weekend. The incident, which​ occurred in ⁣Palm Springs, may have been caused by dusty conditions and ​poor visibility.

The victims have been ⁣identified as ⁣32-year-old​ Yovani Aguilera Tapia, and ⁣29-year-olds David​ Losacco and ‌Millicent Lewis, according to the Riverside County‍ coroner’s office.

“As we prioritize⁣ the well-being of those injured and extend ⁣our support⁣ to the ⁤affected ​families during this challenging ​time, we remind all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to safe driving practices, ‍especially ⁣when faced with adverse weather ‍conditions,” the Palm Springs Police ​Department wrote in​ a statement on Monday.

According to‍ the police, the collision⁣ took place on North⁢ Gene Autry Trail⁢ between ⁤Salvia⁣ Road and Via Escuela in the wash⁤ area. Officers responded‍ to the scene at 2:48 p.m. on ⁢Sept. ⁣3.

Reportedly, two⁤ vehicles traveling north on Gene Autry had to slow down due to the presence of “blowing ‌sand.” However, ‍a third vehicle failed to ‍reduce its speed, resulting in a rear-end collision with one of the vehicles.

Tragically,‌ the ⁣driver and two rear ⁣passengers in⁤ one of‌ the vehicles sustained fatal‌ injuries, ‍as confirmed by ⁤the police. ‍The other individuals‌ involved ‍in the ‍accident ‍suffered⁣ minor to moderate injuries⁤ and⁤ were transported to ‌a hospital for treatment. Authorities have stated ⁢that drugs or ⁤alcohol are not believed to be factors in ‍the‌ crash.
