Trump holds high-priced fundraiser to assist Giuliani’s legal expenses.
Former President Donald Trump Hosts Fundraising Dinner to Support Rudy Giuliani
Former President Donald Trump recently hosted an exclusive fundraising dinner at his luxurious Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club. The event aimed to assist his former attorney and longtime ally, Rudy Giuliani, in covering his substantial legal expenses.
Giuliani finds himself facing a multitude of fees, sanctions, fines, and damages due to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election alongside Trump. Just last month, both men, along with 17 others, were indicted on racketeering charges in Fulton County, Georgia, for their attempts to challenge the election results in the Peach State.
Supporters Divided on Trump’s Assistance
According to CNN correspondent Paula Reid, approximately a dozen individuals were expected to attend the fundraising dinner. However, some of Trump’s advisers believe that the former president should distance himself from Giuliani and no longer provide assistance. On the other hand, there are those who argue that Trump owes it to Giuliani to lend a helping hand. One associate estimated that Giuliani suffered a loss of $10 to $20 million in consulting fees due to the damage caused to his reputation by their association.
Giuliani’s son, Andrew Giuliani, has taken matters into his own hands by establishing the Giuliani Defense PAC to raise funds for his father. While the fundraising dinner was deemed “very helpful” by Andrew, it is clear that additional support will be necessary to overcome the financial challenges they face.
Legal Troubles Mount for Giuliani
In addition to the ongoing RICO case in Fulton County, Giuliani was recently found liable for defamation in a federal lawsuit filed by two Georgia election workers. The lawsuit pertained to allegations of mishandling ballots during the 2020 election. As a result, Giuliani may be required to pay significant damages to the women in addition to his legal fees.
Furthermore, Giuliani is also contending with a $10 million lawsuit filed by a former aide who accused him of sexual assault. Giuliani vehemently denies these allegations.
Seeking Alternative Sources of Income
With the need for financial support growing, Giuliani has been exploring various avenues to secure funds. Reports suggest that he has joined Cameo, a platform where celebrities can earn money by recording personalized videos. Additionally, Giuliani has listed his Manhattan apartment for sale, with an asking price of $6.5 million.
Andrew Giuliani revealed in a radio interview that his father and Trump have agreed to organize another fundraising event at Mar-a-Lago in the coming months.
