Man sentenced to 110 years for double murder outside Indiana auto plant.
Man Sentenced to 110 Years in Prison for Brutal and Heinous Killings
FRANKFORT, Ind.—In a shocking turn of events, a man who fatally shot his former girlfriend and her grandmother outside an Indiana automotive seating plant has been sentenced to 110 years in prison. The judge presiding over the case described the killings as “brutal and heinous.”
Gary Ferrell II, 28, had initially faced the possibility of a death sentence. However, he pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in April, resulting in a lengthy prison term. The victims, Promise Mays, 21, and Pamela Sledd, 62, tragically lost their lives in 2021.
The incident occurred when Ferrell, who worked alongside the victims at NHK Seating of America in Frankfort, opened fire on them outside the business. The women, who had driven to work together, were about to start their shift when the horrifying attack took place. Ferrell was apprehended after crashing his car in a construction zone shortly after the killings.
Clinton Superior Court Judge Justin H. Hunter, in his sentencing order, emphasized the premeditated nature of the murders. He stated that the victims had to witness each other being shot, making the crimes even more horrifying. Judge Hunter further noted that Ferrell displayed a sense of entitlement over Promise Mays, even in death, despite her kind-hearted nature.
The automotive seating plant in Frankfort, located 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Indianapolis, is responsible for designing and manufacturing vehicle seats.
