A Legendary Actor’s Political Shift: Chuck Norris Explains Why He Became a Republican
A 2014 video of Chuck Norris explaining his switch in political affiliation has once again garnered attention.
In the interview, the iconic star of “Walker Texas Ranger” revealed his reasons for changing his political allegiance from Democrat to Republican. Norris boldly stated that the Democrats had veered too far to the left.
“I used to be a Democrat, but unfortunately, the Democrats went too far to the left,” Norris said.
Norris emphasized his point by suggesting that even John F. Kennedy, one of the most revered Democratic presidents, would align with the Republican party if he were alive today.
“John F. Kennedy, today, would be a Republican, because then, the Democrats were more what the Republicans [are] today,” he said, “and unfortunately, they lost their way.”
He didn’t hold back in criticizing Barack Obama, who was serving as president at the time of the interview. Norris accused Obama of failing to fulfill his promises of transparency made during his presidential campaign.
“Everything that needed to be done, he did not [fulfill] one promise. It’s sad.”

What Norris said was undeniably true at the time. Under Obama’s leadership, the Democratic Party began to embrace a more progressive agenda. However, his words hold even more weight when examining the Democratic Party in 2023.

The Democrats of today bear hardly any resemblance to the Democrats of the Kennedy era. They have even diverged significantly from their stance just a decade ago.
During Norris’ interview, the Democrats were advocating for gay marriage, but very few would have openly supported the idea that a man can become a woman or vice versa.
In 2014, the Democrats were already advocating for abortion, but since then, they have taken an even more extreme stance, alienating pro-life Democrats from the party.
Once champions of free speech, the Democrats now actively try to silence any criticism of their prevailing leftist ideology, a stark contrast to their opposition to the Republican-led Iraq War.
Those who remember the Democrats of just a decade ago can attest that they bear no resemblance to the party we see today.
Gone is the Democratic Party of liberal values and freedom, replaced by a party embracing socialism, progressivism, and collectivism.
Chuck Norris was more accurate than he may have realized when he called them out on it.
