The deer has large masses on its chest and jaw that are turning purple, while the rest of its body maintains a normal hue. Wildlife experts are unsure of the cause behind this unusual phenomenon. Nathan Bieber, a deer biologist for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, stated that there are many possibilities, but without sending samples to a lab, it’s impossible to know for sure.
The Maine Warden Service suggests that the deer may be suffering from fibroma, which is an infection. While deer with fibromas can live a normal life, severe cases should be reported to the state.
Photographer Tony Gedaro captured footage of the purple deer and shared it on Facebook, sparking a wave of curiosity and speculation. Internet sleuths have been trying to solve the mystery of the purple deer, suggesting everything from birthmarks to toxic exposure.
Although the exact location of the deer has been kept secret to avoid large crowds, people continue to spot the purple deer in various areas. The mystery remains unsolved, but the purple deer continues to captivate the imagination of nature enthusiasts.
