Series of Hit-and-Run Collisions in Huntington Beach Under Investigation
Huntington Beach Police in Southern California are currently investigating a series of hit-and-run collisions involving three separate bicyclists and a vehicle. Authorities suspect that these incidents may be related to the same driver.
On September 10th, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of Brad Drive and Edwards Street. The victim, an adult bicyclist, stated that the vehicle intentionally sideswiped him before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the bicyclist only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Approximately 15 minutes after the first incident, police were notified of a second downed bicyclist near Heil Avenue and Springdale Street. Responding officers discovered the victim lying in the street with severe injuries. Tragically, despite the efforts of paramedics, the bicyclist did not survive.
The identity of the victim will be released once their next of kin has been notified, according to the police.
During the investigation of these two incidents, a third victim came forward, reporting that they were struck by a vehicle at around 10 p.m. while crossing the crosswalk of Warner Avenue and Edwards Street. The driver fled the scene, leaving the bicyclist with minor injuries.
Witnesses from all three incidents described the suspect’s vehicle as a “black Toyota four-door sedan with significant passenger-side bumper damage,” as reported by the police.
