Air Force Secretary: China’s War Preparations Clear, Intel Confirms
Air Force Secretary Warns: China is Preparing for War with the United States
In a bold statement, Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall declared that China is actively preparing for war with the United States. Speaking at the Air and Space Forces Association’s Air, Space, and Cyber Conference, Kendall emphasized the urgency of the situation.
“Today the intelligence couldn’t be clearer. Whatever its actual intentions may be, I could not say, but China is preparing for a war and specifically for a war with the United States,” Kendall stated. You can read his full speech here.
Kendall further explained that China has been strategically “reoptimizing its forces” over the past two decades to compete with the United States in the Western Pacific.
These remarks from the Air Force secretary come shortly after President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam, where he expressed his belief that China’s economic challenges would make them less likely to invade Taiwan. However, Republican congressman Mike Gallagher holds a different view, suggesting that China’s internal problems could actually make President Xi Jinping more aggressive.
In fact, President Xi recently urged the Chinese military to accelerate its modernization and combat readiness, following a series of intense military exercises.
Concerningly, numerous war games conducted in recent years have reportedly revealed that the U.S. military is ill-prepared for a conflict with China.
Given these circumstances, Kendall stressed the critical need for the Air and Space Forces to enhance their power projection capabilities and deter any potential invasion of Taiwan.
Speaking on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Kendall concluded, “We must be ready for a kind of war we have no modern experience with.”
