Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Corrects Rep. Matt Gaetz on Impeachment Inquiry
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) offered a “correction” to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) over his claim that he pushed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to open an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
Gaetz, in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, said he pushed McCarthy “for weeks” to open the inquiry and called out Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade for saying the Florida congressman was “speaking into the wind.”

Greene responded to Gaetz on X by reminding him of the articles of impeachment she filed against Biden and claimed he only signed onto the articles surrounding border security after she dragged him “kicking and screaming.”
“Correction my friend. I introduced articles of impeachment against Joe Biden for his corrupt business dealings in Ukraine & China while he was Vice President on his very first day in office. You wouldn’t cosponsor those and I had to drag you kicking and screaming to get you to cosponsor my articles on the border,” Greene said.
“Who’s really been making the push?” she concluded.
Greene introduced articles of impeachment against Biden, including one based on the border crisis that Gaetz co-sponsored. The Georgia congresswoman has been a vocal proponent of impeachment but has also been an ally to McCarthy and has endorsed his view of opening an inquiry before voting on impeachment of the president.
“This is what leadership looks like and it’s the right thing to do. The American people deserve to know the truth and it’s our duty to uproot corruption wherever this investigation may lead,” Greene said after McCarthy announced the inquiry.
Gaetz has been a critic of McCarthy and has frequently threatened to oust the House speaker if his demands are not met. He was one of several Republicans who refused to vote for McCarthy during the lengthy speaker election in January.

McCarthy, in announcing the inquiry, said it was the “logical next step” in the House GOP’s investigation into alleged corruption within the Biden family.
“House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s actions,” McCarthy said. “Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of corruption.”
