Kemp suspends fuel tax, blames ‘Bidenomics’ for high gas prices.

Georgia Governor Suspends Gas Tax, Blames Biden’s Economy

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) made an exciting announcement‍ on Tuesday, revealing his plan to suspend the gas tax⁣ in the Peach State through an executive order. Kemp wasted no time‌ in pointing fingers at President Joe‌ Biden’s handling of the economy as the reason ⁢behind this decision.

“From runaway federal spending to policies that hamstring domestic energy production, all Bidenomics has done is ⁢take more money out of the pockets of the middle class,”

Kemp emphasized in‍ a statement. ‌He believes that the‌ increased gas ‍prices have burdened the middle class, and it’s time to provide them with some ‌relief.

Immediate Relief for Georgians

Under the executive order,‍ the gas tax will be suspended from September 13th to October 12th. This ⁣means that ‍Georgians will enjoy a significant reduction in gas⁤ prices during this period. According to the governor’s office, drivers will pay 31.2 cents⁤ less per gallon on gas and 35 cents less per gallon on‍ diesel fuel.

Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns expressed his support‌ for Kemp’s executive action, highlighting the success of Georgia’s economy compared to the⁢ national level.

“I⁤ applaud Governor Kemp’s ‍suspension of⁤ motor fuel taxes to keep ⁣our people and our ‍economy moving despite Washington’s inaction on rising fuel prices. Georgia’s success story is no‍ accident – it is the result of conservative policies enacted to keep Georgia the nation’s best state for business,”

Burns stated.

Past Suspension and Savings

This is not the first ‌time Georgia has suspended the gas tax. In 2022, the tax was suspended from March through December due to skyrocketing gas ‌prices following the‌ Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although gas prices decreased after reaching their peak‍ in the summer of 2022, they have been on the rise again in recent months.

Kemp’s office estimates that the 2022 suspension saved ⁤Georgia drivers a whopping $1.7 billion.

With this latest executive order, Governor Kemp aims to provide immediate relief to hardworking Georgians and help them navigate ⁣the economic challenges caused by President Biden’s policies. It’s a bold move that demonstrates Kemp’s commitment to supporting the middle class and ⁣keeping Georgia’s economy thriving.
