The impact of this tragic incident is felt throughout the community. The loss of Mr. Calderon-Ordonez’s son, Justin Sontay-Oxlaj, is a devastating reminder of the importance of protecting and nurturing our children. The circumstances surrounding his death are deeply disturbing.
Investigation and Arrest
Justin Sontay-Oxlaj was taken to a hospital in June 2019 from his family’s residence in the southeast Los Angeles area, where he tragically passed away. The coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department conducted an autopsy, which revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma. Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami described the child’s injuries as “massive blunt force trauma” during a previous court hearing.
The suspicious nature of the case prompted a swift response from the police. Detectives at the scene noted visible signs of physical trauma on the boy’s body. Mr. Calderon-Ordonez was subsequently arrested on the same day. It is reported that he was the one who called 911, while the child’s mother was not present at the time. Tragically, paramedics arrived to find the young boy not breathing.
