MSNBC host claims Democrats privately acknowledge Biden’s age unfit for second term.
Democrats Privately Express Concerns About Biden’s Age
According to MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, Democrats are privately conceding that President Joe Biden may be too old to seek another term in the White House.
During his show on Wednesday, Scarborough revealed that while Democrats dismiss the age issue when on TV, they express concerns about it off-air.
Scarborough mentioned that in his conversations with his wife and “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski and others, the topic of Biden’s age frequently arises. He stated, ”Man, he’s too old to run, isn’t he?”
Scarborough clarified that he wasn’t referring to just a few discussions, but rather every conversation. Rev. Al Sharpton, another MSNBC on-air personality, has also heard similar concerns.

Scarborough highlighted the contrast between what Democrats say off-air and on-air, comparing it to Republicans who have different opinions about Donald Trump. He stated, “Well, let me just say, Democrats, off the air, will say ‘Joe Biden’s too old. Why is he running?’ On the air? They won’t say that.”
At 80 years old, Biden is already the oldest person to be president. If he were to serve a second term, he would be 86 at the end of it. Concerns about his ability to lead effectively have been raised due to instances where he loses his train of thought while speaking or has had physical mishaps caught on camera.
Polls indicate that a majority of voters, including Democrats, are worried about Biden’s age. Additionally, Vice President Kamala Harris has not received favorable approval ratings, despite her readiness to assume the presidency if necessary.
Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, appearing on “Morning Joe,” expressed concerns about Biden’s age and Harris’ lack of popularity in a recent opinion piece, urging the president to end his 2024 re-election campaign.
Scarborough questioned whether there is any Democrat who can both outperform Biden as president and defeat Trump in the upcoming election. As Trump, currently 77 years old, is running for another term as the GOP frontrunner, a potential rematch with Biden looms.
“I don’t see a lot of Democrats out there … well I don’t see any Democrats out there right now that could do that,” Scarborough concluded.
