Newly Released Notes Support IRS Whistleblower’s Testimony on Hunter Biden Prosecutor
The recently released notes written by the IRS whistleblower who claimed that investigations into Hunter Biden were intentionally delayed seem to provide evidence supporting his testimony.
The notes, which can be found here on Politico, were taken during an October 7, 2022, meeting between FBI and IRS officials, including whistleblower Gary Shapley. Shapley had previously testified before Congress that he was prevented from conducting a thorough investigation into Biden’s alleged tax crimes.
David Weiss, the Delaware U.S. attorney leading the investigation into Biden, was present at the meeting. Shapley’s notes appear to confirm his claims that Weiss stated he was not the final decision-maker when it came to bringing charges against the president’s son.
“Weiss stated – He is not the deciding person,” Shapley wrote in his notes.
This new development adds to the ongoing controversy surrounding whether political influence played a role in the investigation of Hunter Biden, who is accused of committing tax fraud and other crimes such as expensing payments to prostitutes and a sex club.
Last month, House Republicans subpoenaed two IRS agents and two FBI special agents who were either present at the meeting or briefed on its details. One of the FBI officials, special agent in charge Thomas Sobocinski, contradicted Shapley’s testimony by stating that Weiss did have authority in the investigation.
The other officials who were subpoenaed are IRS director of field operations Michael Batdorf, IRS special agent in charge Darrell Waldon, and FBI assistant special agent in charge Ryeshia Holley. According to Shapley, all of them attended the meeting except for Batdorf, to whom Shapley sent an email detailing the meeting’s contents.
“Our Committees, along with the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, have sought these interviews since IRS whistleblowers came forward with concerning allegations of political interference in the investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign influence peddling and tax evasion,” the Republicans said in a statement.
