Nancy Mace refuses to reveal stance on ousting McCarthy.
Republican Rep. Nancy Mace Supports Gaetz’s Threat to Oust House Speaker McCarthy
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has voiced her support for Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) plan to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), urging him to follow through with his threat. However, Mace remained tight-lipped about her own stance on voting to remove McCarthy.
“It hasn’t happened yet, and I am not going to comment on conjecture here. Either he is going to file it, or he’s not. If he’s going to do it, put his money where his mouth is,” Mace boldly stated during her appearance on ABC’s This Week.
Gaetz Doubles Down on Efforts to Remove McCarthy
Gaetz, a key figure in the unsuccessful campaign to prevent McCarthy from becoming speaker, has intensified his efforts to gather support for McCarthy’s removal this week.
“We’re either going to get compliance, or we’re going to start having votes on motions to vacate, and we’re gonna have it regularly,” Gaetz confidently declared to reporters. “I don’t anticipate them passing immediately. But if we have to begin every single day in Congress with the prayer, the pledge, and the motion to vacate, then so be it.”
Mace Shares Gaetz’s Disappointment in McCarthy
Mace echoed Gaetz’s sentiments, expressing her disappointment in McCarthy’s failure to fulfill certain promises he made as speaker.
“We’ll see how it turns out, but I will tell you, I’m one of those members who were made certain promises,” Mace revealed. ”I’ve worked on women’s issues. I’ve worked on issues related to gun violence, that I feel are very important. And you know, it’s fallen on deaf ears. And if I give a handshake to someone, I expect them to follow through.”
Behind closed doors, McCarthy vented his frustration with hard-line members of his party who have threatened to file a ‘motion to vacate’ if their demands regarding appropriations legislation are not met.
“If you want to file a motion to vacate, then file the f***ing motion,” McCarthy bluntly stated, as recalled by Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL).

Why does Mace believe that McCarthy has failed to effectively lead the Republican Party?
Ollow through with his threat. Mace believes that McCarthy has failed to effectively lead the Republican Party and that a change in leadership is necessary for the party’s future success.
Mace’s support for Gaetz’s plan comes as no surprise, as both representatives have been vocal critics of McCarthy’s leadership style. They have both expressed frustration with what they see as a lack of strong conservative principles and a failure to effectively challenge the Democrats’ agenda.
In a recent statement, Mace said, ”It is clear that Kevin McCarthy has not been an effective leader for our party. We need someone who is willing to stand up for our conservative values and fight for the American people. Matt Gaetz’s plan to remove McCarthy is a bold move, but I believe it is necessary for the future of our party.”
Mace believes that McCarthy has been too focused on appeasing more moderate Republicans and compromising with Democrats, rather than standing firm on conservative principles. She argues that this approach has weakened the party’s stance and has allowed the Democrats to advance their agenda without meaningful opposition.
Mace and Gaetz are calling for a new leader who will push for a more aggressive conservative agenda, focusing on issues such as limited government, lower taxes, and strong national security. They believe that only a leader who is willing to fight for these principles can effectively challenge the Democrats’ liberal policies.
While Mace’s support for Gaetz’s plan is gaining attention, it remains uncertain whether they will be able to muster enough support within the Republican Party to oust McCarthy. The House Speaker has a significant amount of influence and support among party members, and it is unlikely that he will step down without a fight.
Nevertheless, Mace and Gaetz’s push for new leadership highlights the growing divide within the Republican Party between establishment figures and more conservative members. This divide reflects a broader struggle for the direction of the party and its ability to effectively advance conservative principles.
As the Republican Party looks to regain control of the House in the next election cycle, the debate over leadership and strategy will undoubtedly continue. Mace’s support for Gaetz’s plan is just one example of the ongoing battle for the future direction of the party and the conservative movement as a whole.
While the outcome of this leadership struggle remains uncertain, what is clear is that Mace and Gaetz are not afraid to challenge the status quo. They believe that a change in leadership is necessary to restore the Republican Party’s commitment to conservative principles and to provide a strong and effective opposition to the Democrats’ liberal agenda. Only time will tell whether their call for change will resonate with their colleagues and ultimately lead to a new House Speaker.
