“Senators are able to choose what they want to‌ wear on the ‌Senate floor. I will continue to wear a⁣ suit,” Schumer (D-N.Y.) told ⁤Axios.

With this exciting⁤ change,‍ Democrat Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) can now freely express his style by wearing shorts and hoodies on the Senate floor‌ without any consequences.

The new rule‌ is set to⁢ take effect this week.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)‍ voiced⁤ her opinion on ⁣the change on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating⁣ that it is a move specifically aimed at Fetterman.

“The Senate no longer enforcing⁣ a dress code for⁣ Senators to⁢ appease Fetterman is disgraceful,” wrote Greene.

“Dress code is one of society’s standards that⁣ set etiquette ‌and ⁤respect for our institutions,” she continued, “Stop ⁣lowering‌ the bar.”

Fetterman recently returned to the⁤ Senate after receiving treatment for clinical depression during his absence. ‌

The Pennsylvania senator is known for⁢ his formal attire⁣ in the chamber, but he often opts for⁢ casual clothing around the Capitol.

According to Axios, the current rule ‍mandates⁢ business attire for all Senate⁣ staffers.

However,⁣ the Inquirer reports that there is‍ no ⁤formal dress ⁤code ‌in place,⁤ and it is up to‍ the discretion of the Sergeant of Arms‌ to enforce it.

Former Representative Justin Amash (R-Mich.), a longtime Republican, expressed his disapproval on X: “Awful. ⁤The Senate chamber isn’t your home, a gym, or an outdoor park. If you can’t ⁢dress professionally for work on the ‍floor of the Senate of the‌ United States, then do us all a favor and get a different job.”

What prompted the decision to eliminate the formal dress code ‍for senators on the Senate floor?

Ace for senators, and each senator has the freedom to choose their attire on the Senate floor. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has reiterated that he will continue ‍to ⁢wear a suit despite the elimination of ‌the formal dress code.

This decision to remove ⁣the dress code allows Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania to express his personal style by⁢ wearing shorts and ‌hoodies on the Senate floor without facing any consequences. ⁤The new rule is expected to take effect this week,⁢ bringing more freedom and ⁢flexibility to senators in ⁢their choice of‌ clothing.

However, ⁣not everyone is in favor of this change. Representative Marjorie⁣ Taylor Greene of Georgia voiced her opinion on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating ‍that the elimination of the dress code is a move‍ specifically⁣ aimed at appeasing Fetterman. Greene believes ‍that dress codes are important in upholding society’s standards⁤ of etiquette and‍ respect for institutions, and argues against lowering the bar.

Fetterman recently returned to the Senate after undergoing treatment for clinical ⁤depression. While he is known‌ for his formal attire ‌in the chamber, he often dresses casually around the Capitol. It is ⁣worth noting‌ that while there is no formal dress code in ‍place for senators, business attire is mandated for all Senate staffers.

This change in the dress code reflects a ⁣more relaxed and modern approach in the⁤ Senate,⁢ allowing senators to showcase their⁢ personal style while carrying out⁣ their duties. It remains to be seen how senators ‍will choose to dress under the new rule, but it is clear that the elimination ‌of the formal dress code has sparked debate and discussion among lawmakers and the public alike.
