Pro-Life Leftist’s Surprising TV Strategy: Run for President to Expose Abortion
Progressive, atheist, pro-life: Meet the Newest Candidate for the 2024 Democratic Presidential Nomination
In a surprising twist, a new candidate has entered the race for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination. Terrisa Bukovinac, a progressive and atheist, has made waves by announcing her bid as a pro-life activist. She is the founder of the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU), an organization dedicated to fighting against abortion while maintaining left-leaning views on other political and social issues.
While Bukovinac may not be as well-known as her competitors like Kennedy and Biden, her campaign is not about winning. She aims to bring a “much-needed voice of reason” to the Democratic Party on the topic of abortion, according to National Review.
“I will expose the human rights atrocities committed in abortion businesses across the country through uncensored TV ads, as any FCC TV station must run the ads of any federal candidate,” Bukovinac explained.
Bukovinac gained attention in March 2022 when she and fellow PAAU activist Lauren Handy discovered the remains of aborted babies outside a Washington, D.C. abortion clinic. Despite the evidence of illegal partial-birth abortions, only Handy and the pro-life activists faced criminal investigation and prosecution, not the abortionist.
Furthermore, the Department of Justice has indicted 126 pro-life activists under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, while only three pro-abortion activists have faced charges under the same law. This unequal application of the law highlights the bias against pro-life activists.
In July, Bukovinac and another pro-life advocate were violently assaulted while protesting outside an abortion clinic. The incident was caught on video and shared on social media.
Bukovinac’s strong pro-life stance sets her apart from the other Democratic candidates. While Robert F. Kennedy Jr. initially expressed support for a national abortion ban after the first three months of pregnancy, his campaign later backtracked on his comments.
“I will not rest until the toxic relationship between the Democratic Party and the abortion industry is broken and justice is served for these children,” Bukovinac declared. “A better world is possible, and it starts with us.”

How does Bukovinac advocate for more accountability and transparency in the abortion industry?
Individuals for the illegal sale of fetal tissue, a practice that has been banned since 1993. Yet, Bukovinac believes that there needs to be more accountability and transparency when it comes to the abortion industry.
As a progressive, Bukovinac also strongly advocates for affordable healthcare, paid family leave, affordable housing, and action on climate change. She brings a unique perspective to the pro-life movement, challenging the notion that being pro-life is synonymous with conservative values.
While her stance on abortion sets her apart from most Democratic candidates, Bukovinac’s progressive values align with many members of the party. She believes that supporting the dignity and rights of the unborn is consistent with the party’s focus on justice and equality for all.
However, Bukovinac is well aware that her pro-life stance may alienate some voters within the Democratic Party. In an interview with the National Review, she said, “I simply believe that we can advocate for the right to life and also advocate for progressive policies that support women and families.”
Her candidacy has sparked a discussion within the Democratic Party about the inclusivity of differing opinions on abortion. Can a candidate be both pro-life and progressive? Can the party support a candidate who challenges traditional party lines on such a divisive issue?
As the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination race heats up, Terrisa Bukovinac is determined to make her voice heard. She may be a longshot candidate, but her unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights of the unborn adds a new dimension to the political discourse surrounding abortion.
Regardless of the outcome of the nomination, Bukovinac’s candidacy serves as a reminder that within any party there are diverse perspectives, and it is important to encourage open dialogue and debate on important issues, even when they challenge the status quo.
If nothing else, Terrisa Bukovinac’s bid for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination invites discussion and reflection on the complexities of abortion policy and the role it plays within the broader progressive movement.
