Anthony Fauci, the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, and his wife had a combined net worth of over $11 million when Fauci left his government post last year, according to financial disclosures obtained by Fox News.
This staggering number was reported in Fauci’s termination report when he left his highly-paid position in the federal government in December 2022. Despite experiencing a decrease in net worth between 2021 and 2022, the couple’s wealth increased by nearly $2 million since the beginning of the pandemic, as reported by Fox News.
“Before his retirement last December, Fauci was the highest-paid federal employee, earning $480,654, surpassing even the president’s salary of $400,000,” revealed Adam Andrzejewski, CEO of transparency watchdog OpenTheBooks, in an interview with Fox News. “Even in retirement, Fauci’s federal pension is estimated to rival a presidential salary, making it the largest federal retirement package in history.”
Controversies Surrounding Fauci
This report comes in the wake of revelations that Fauci’s team attempted to conceal their communications during the pandemic. A former senior aide for Fauci resorted to using Gmail instead of their government email to hide their correspondence, even encouraging colleagues to do the same to avoid Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
