Democrats in a frenzy as third party jeopardizes Biden’s grip on narrowly won state.
Democratic Party in Panic as Third Party Threatens Biden’s Hold on Crucial Swing State
Democratic Party strategists and operatives are in a state of panic following the news that a centrist political party has successfully registered thousands of voters in Arizona.
No Labels, a third-party organization aiming to nominate a candidate for the 2024 presidential election, has reported that it has registered over 15,000 voters in Arizona, causing concern among Democrats that it will siphon votes away from President Joe Biden in this crucial swing state.
According to Arizona Democratic strategist Rodd McLeod, if No Labels manages to field a candidate who can unite the country, it will undoubtedly draw votes away from Biden and potentially benefit Donald Trump.
The situation has prompted Matt Bennett, executive vice president of Third Way, a center-left group, to state, “We need to convince the political world that being involved with this is a bad idea,” as reported by The Associated Press.
On @FoxNewsSunday, @KarlRove @KevinPWalling agree: Americans don’t want a rematch of Biden v. Trump in 2024. We look forward to talking to you again, @ShannonBream, about the vision of #NoLabels for a third choice and “new face” of leadership. https://t.co/QLCixqLjaK pic.twitter.com/CyMdivnZc2

The 2020 presidential election in Arizona was incredibly close, with Biden winning by a margin of just 10,000 votes after Trump’s victory in 2016.
No Labels has registered over 13,500 new voters in Maricopa and Pima counties, which include the cities of Phoenix and Tucson, respectively. An additional 1,900 voters come from other counties.
Of the new registrants in August, approximately 50 percent were previously independent voters, 25 percent were newly registered voters, 14 percent were Democrats, and 11 percent were Republicans.
No Labels has been actively courting Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who is currently trailing in 2024 polls against Republican West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, to run for president under their party banner.
The organization hosted a town hall in New Hampshire in July, featuring Joe Manchin and former Republican Governor Jon Huntsman of Utah.
No Labels has made it clear that they will only nominate a candidate if there is a viable path to victory, with a decision to be made after the Super Tuesday primary contests in 2024.
“This is something we’re still working through,” said Ryan Clancy, chief strategist for No Labels, in an interview with the AP.

How can the Democratic Party address the emergence of No Labels and the growing dissatisfaction among voters seeking alternatives to the two major parties in order to retain support in crucial swing states
Ters since the election, potentially making a significant impact in the upcoming elections. The party describes itself as a centrist organization that aims to find common ground among politicians from both major parties and promote bipartisanship.
The Democratic Party, already facing challenges in maintaining control of Congress, now finds itself in a precarious position in a crucial swing state. Arizona has become a battleground state in recent years, with its growing population and changing demographics making it a key target for both parties. Losing any traction in Arizona could have dire consequences for the Democratic Party’s control of the presidency and potentially impact its ability to implement its policy agenda.
The success of No Labels in registering thousands of voters has raised concerns among Democrats that they will split the liberal vote and in turn, help Donald Trump secure a victory in Arizona. With the narrow margin of victory in the 2020 election, every vote counts, and any shifting of support away from Biden could be detrimental to his chances of retaining the state.
Democratic strategist Rodd McLeod acknowledges the potential threat posed by No Labels, stating that if the party manages to field a candidate who can appeal to a broad range of voters and unite the country, it could draw support away from Biden. This would create a scenario where Trump could potentially benefit from a divided Democratic vote, increasing his chances of reclaiming the state.
The situation has prompted calls from prominent Democratic figures, such as Matt Bennett, executive vice president of Third Way, for the political world to recognize the dangers of getting involved with No Labels. They argue that supporting a third-party candidate in a closely contested state like Arizona would only serve to fragment the progressive vote and play into the hands of the Republican Party.
No Labels, on the other hand, argues that Americans are tired of the partisan divide and are yearning for a new choice, a “third face” of leadership. They aim to bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans, advocating for pragmatic solutions to the country’s issues.
As the midterms approach and the 2024 presidential election looms, the Democratic Party will need to tread carefully to ensure it retains support in crucial swing states like Arizona. No Labels’ success in registering thousands of voters should serve as a wake-up call to the party, as it highlights the growing dissatisfaction among voters who may be seeking alternatives to the two major parties.
The Democratic Party will need to assess its strategies and find ways to address the concerns raised by No Labels’ emergence. It must focus on captivating voters and offering a compelling alternative to any potential third-party candidates, while also appealing to those who may be disenchanted with the current political landscape.
Only time will tell how this situation will unfold, but one thing is clear: the Democratic Party cannot afford to take Arizona, or any other swing state, for granted. It must work tirelessly to solidify its support and counter any threats that may impact its hold on power.
