Abbott strengthens Texas border barrier: ‘Razor wire amount doubled’
Gov. Abbott Doubles Down on Razor Wire to Keep Immigrants Out
Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) has responded fiercely to President Joe Biden’s attempt to dismantle the razor wire barrier that Texas has erected along its southern border to deter illegal immigration.
“The razor wire denies access to the state of Texas from the river, from the border,”
Abbott declared, accusing Biden of ordering Border Patrol agents to cut and remove the wire, effectively allowing immigrants to enter the United States unchecked.
But Abbott is not backing down. In an interview with Hannity, he proudly announced that the Texas National Guard has taken action to reinforce the barrier.
“We went back today and doubled the amount of razor wire on that border to make sure we keep those people from entering the United States illegally.”
When confronted with Democratic politicians who claim to champion the cause of immigrants, Abbott didn’t hold back.
“So, we made it happen,”
he retorted, referring to the buses filled with immigrants that were sent to cities like New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
Abbott pointed out the hypocrisy of these politicians, who advocate for sanctuary city policies and promise to care for all immigrants, yet fail to address the overwhelming challenges faced by Texas.
“To be honest, they have just a trickle of what Texas has to deal with every single day, and if they get $12 billion, Texas should get $120 billion.”
The governor expressed his frustration with President Biden, accusing him of obstructing Texas’ efforts to secure the border and limit illegal immigration.
“I’ve never seen a president flout the laws of the United States as much as Joe Biden, and I’ve never seen anyone like that obstruct a governor who actually is trying to limit illegal immigration into our country.”
Abbott emphasized that the razor wire barrier has successfully prevented tens of thousands of illegal crossings.
Additionally, he has implemented floating buoy barriers in the Rio Grande, a measure that has faced legal challenges.
However, an appeals court recently ruled in favor of Texas, allowing them to continue using the buoy barriers and placing coils of razor wire along the river.
Gov. Abbott is determined to protect his state and maintain the integrity of the border, no matter the obstacles he faces.

How does President Biden’s approach to immigration differ from the previous administration, and what are his arguments against physical barriers such as razor wire
Te>
“We have doubled down on the razor wire,” Abbott stated. “We will not allow our state to become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.”
Abbott’s decision has received mixed reactions from both sides of the political spectrum. Supporters argue that it is necessary to protect the state from the influx of undocumented immigrants and the potential security risks they may pose. They point to the increase in drug trafficking and criminal activities that have been linked to illegal border crossings in recent years.
Detractors, on the other hand, argue that razor wire is a symbol of hostility and exclusion. They believe that it sends a message of intolerance and inhumanity towards those seeking a better life. They argue that instead of focusing on deterrence, efforts should be made to address the root causes of immigration and work towards comprehensive immigration reform.
Since President Biden took office, there has been a significant shift in immigration policy. The administration has moved away from the strict enforcement measures of the previous administration and has adopted a more humanitarian approach towards migrants. This includes the dismantling of physical barriers, such as the razor wire, that were erected under the Trump administration’s “Zero Tolerance” policy.
President Biden argues that these barriers do more harm than good, both in terms of human rights and the effectiveness of immigration enforcement. He has stressed the need for a comprehensive immigration reform that addresses the underlying causes of migration and provides a pathway to legal status for undocumented immigrants already in the country.
Despite the differing opinions and approaches, it is clear that immigration remains a divisive and complex issue in the United States. While both sides may have valid concerns and arguments, it is essential to find common ground and work towards a sustainable and just solution.
As the debate continues, Governor Abbott’s decision to double down on razor wire along the Texas border sends a strong message. It signals his commitment to enforce immigration laws and protect his state’s interests. However, it also highlights the ongoing tensions and disagreements surrounding immigration policy in the United States.
Ultimately, it will be up to policymakers, legislators, and citizens to find a way forward that is both effective in addressing immigration challenges and respectful of humanitarian values. Only through collaboration and open dialogue can progress be made towards comprehensive immigration reform that ensures border security while upholding the principles of fairness and justice.
