The Mothers of Suspects in Deadly Hit-and-Run React Differently
In a tragic hit-and-run incident in Las Vegas, the mothers of the suspects involved have expressed contrasting views on the matter. Jesus Ayala, 18, and Jzamir Keys, 16, are facing charges related to the death of a retired police chief from California, Andreas “Andy” Probst.
On August 14, Ayala was driving the car while Keys, the passenger, allegedly recorded a video of the intentional hit-and-run that resulted in Probst’s death. The teenagers are also accused of stealing four cars and injuring another person on the same day.
The mothers of Ayala and Keys have now spoken out about the charges against their sons, and their reactions couldn’t be more different.
Ayala’s Mother: Remorse and Doubt
In a statement to KTLA-TV, Ayala’s mother expressed remorse over the incident and questioned if her son could ever be forgiven for his involvement in such a horrific act. She said, “I don’t know why he did this. I don’t know if God can forgive this.”
Keys’ Mother: Denial and Accusations
On the other hand, Keys’ mother attempted to absolve her son of any responsibility, claiming that the charges were a result of media lies and that the truth would be revealed in court. She texted KLAS, “My son’s side of the story will be told, ‘the truth,’ not the inaccuracies the media will try to portray.” However, it’s worth noting that Keys’ mother has a troubled past, having faced charges of child abuse and neglect in the past.
While Keys’ mother insists on her son’s innocence until proven guilty, the evidence against him seems damning. A video allegedly shows him and Ayala intentionally hitting Probst, laughing about it, and speeding away. Although Keys wasn’t driving, his involvement in recording the incident and failing to intervene could make him complicit in the murder.
While distrust of the media is prevalent, it is hard to deny the overwhelming evidence in this case. The Probst family has suffered a great loss, and it is likely that Ayala and Keys will face significant consequences for their actions.
Ultimately, defending their sons in court may prove challenging for both mothers.
